Guangzhou | Experience the antiquity of a century-old cultural hotel with kids

If I can't think of where to spend the weekend in Guangzhou, I always take my children for a stroll around Shamian. Each time we pass by the Victory Hotel, I'm filled with curiosity, and last weekend I decided to stay a day at this hotel with a hundred years of history to explore. ⌛️ | Features This hotel, originally built in 1888 as the "Victoria Hotel", is located on Shamian Island. Tourists passing by are always attracted to stop and admire it, and what catches the eye the most is its museum-like lobby, displaying many antiques worth appreciating in detail. The cinematic elevator area and the retro 'Canton Book Bar' are not-to-be-missed spots once you're there. 🏨 | Rooms We stayed in a deluxe city view room, with 1 large 🛏️ and an extra small 🛏️, so both adults and children could rest well. The cartoon-themed room kept the child entertained and happy to play, read, wash, and rest. Despite being an old hotel, the hygiene and service are quite up to par, and the decoration with Xiguan charm is uniquely appealing. 🏋️ | Hotel Facilities The hotel has a fitness center and a self-service laundry room, but it's worth mentioning the outdoor pool on the 9th floor, where you can overlook the scenery of Shamian Street. The hidden photo spot on the 9th floor, the conference hall terrace, also offers a distant view of the White Swan Pond Art Center. 🍴 | St. Lefe Garden Restaurant A Western restaurant with really good value for money, elegant environment, nice waiters, and solid offerings. We prefer the atmosphere of its outdoor garden over the indoor setting. 🏯 | Surroundings Shamian Island, White Swan Pond Art Center, Yongqing Fang... For travelers who want to explore this area, the location is quite convenient.
