It is known as one of the four earliest mosques built after the introduction of Islam into China, along with the Qingjing Mosque in Quanzhou, the Phoenix Temple in Hangzhou, and the Xianhe Temple in Yangzhou. The mosque is named "Huai Sheng", which means to commemorate the Islamic prophet Muhammad. The temple is relatively small and there are few tourists, so it is very quiet.
