The second largest flower in the world

A half day trek into the Lojing forest area to see the Rafflesia Kerrii in its various flowering stages. These flowers are protected by the local indigenous people, the Temiars whom Moonriver Lodge engages directly as part of working with the local community. Thank god it was a beautiful day and the trek was successful! The trek is suitable for kids too! It was amazing to finally see something rare in real life and not just in a science textbook. We were only able to spot 1 in full bloom. They only last a few days after blooming and take months to grow. They gave out a faint unpleasant smell.
