The Serene Charm of a Hanok Temple

Nestled at the foot of Yeonhwa Mountain, Goseong Okcheon Temple is a thousand-year-old temple founded by Buddhist monk Uisang in the 10th year of King Munmu's reign during the Silla Dynasty (670 AD). It is a space where nature and architecture blend harmoniously. The wooden structures such as Jabangru (a designated cultural property of Gyeongnam Province), Daeungjeon Hall, and Bojanggak Hall, built in the traditional Hanok style, feature delicate curves and tiled roofs that seamlessly integrate with the forest scenery, offering visitors both tranquility and awe. Okcheon Temple also preserves cultural heritage such as ancient documents and Buddhist paintings from the Goryeo and Joseon dynasties, which can be viewed at the exhibition hall, Bojanggak. Walking along the old Hanok pillars, wooden floors, and stone steps allows you to simultaneously appreciate the beauty of architecture and the depth of history.
