Never known that watching hundreds of hot air balloons being released into the air can be so therapeutic. Everyone was smiling happily despite being sleep-deprived. The hot air balloons will start rising slightly before the crack of dawn (515-530am in Sep) and that means you have to be ready at 5am, waking up at 330/4am. But it is definitely worth it. While there are many countries that offer hot air balloons experience, goreme is one of the best in my opinion because of the scenic fairy chimney backdrop. Best months to visit Goreme and watch hot air balloons: May-Jun and Sep-Oct. These months have high probability of good weather and chance to see hot air balloons. At the same time, spring and autumn are good with comfortable temperatures (not too hot and not too cold).
