Golmud Winter and Spring Cultural Tourism Activities Are Heating Up

This winter, the 2025-2026 winter and spring cultural, tourism, and sports series of activities in Golmud City, Haixi Mongol and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, will be spectacular, running from November 2025 through March 2026. There are 18 events covering seven major categories. Highlights include the "Exciting Saturdays! Kunlun Sky Street Ignites Winter Nights," held every Saturday with 4 sessions already completed, making it a great winter destination; the "Light and Shadow Reflecting New Year Customs · Opera Enriches the Cold Winter" folk tour into communities and villages, featuring 15 shadow puppet and opera performances blending intangible cultural heritage with the festive atmosphere. On New Year's Eve, December 31, the "Light of the Salt Lake · Brilliant Golmud" grand public celebration will feature Guozhuang dance, holographic light shows, and more, full of ceremonial spirit; at the end of the month, the intangible cultural heritage food and shopping festival will showcase a collision of national trends and folk customs. At the end of December, the 12th National Public Ice and Snow Season Golmud sub-venue will open at Liuzihu Lake, offering over 20 ice and snow activities combined with brisk walking to fully enjoy the fun of sports. During the 2026 Spring Festival and Lantern Festival, traditional events such as the New Year goods market and the Tibetan calendar "Fire Horse" New Year celebration will take place, along with a large-scale fireworks display.
