Chaka Salt Lake

Chaka Salt Lake, located in the western part of Qinghai Province in China, is the largest salt lake in the country. It is as famous as the Chaka Salt Lake and is situated in the southern part of the Qaidam Basin, spanning across the Golmud City and Dulan County. Chaka Salt Lake is formed by the convergence of Dabusun Lake and other salt pools such as South Hobson, North Hobson, and Senie, covering a total area of 5,856 square kilometers. Several endorheic rivers, including the Golmud River and the Qaidam River, flow into the lake. Due to continuous evaporation, a hard salt crust has formed on the lake, on which the Qinghai-Tibet Railway and the Qinghai-Tibet Highway are directly built. Chaka Salt Lake contains abundant reserves of inorganic salts such as sodium chloride, potassium chloride, and magnesium chloride, with total reserves exceeding 50 billion tons, making it one of China's mining bases. It features the famous 'Salt Bridge' that spans thousands of meters.
