Built in 2016, ⚓ The Port House in Antwerp, Belgium 🇧🇪, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, consists of two components. 1️⃣ Bottom: The replica of the former fire station Hanseatic house, representing the history of Antwerp. 2️⃣ Top: The port headquarter with a glass façade. Like the bow of the ship, the new extension points towards the Scheldt, connecting the building with the river on which Antwerp was founded. The port of Antwerp is the second busiest shipping port in Europe, serving 15,000 sea trade ships 🚢 and transporting more than 200 million tonnes of goods each year.
