Driving around Gifu in winter

This year, we chose to travel to the central part of Japan by driving across the mountains along the Nagoya-Takayama route. We chose to rent a snow tire car from Nagoya city for safety. For those who want to rent a snow tire car, you should book in advance because there may not be enough cars for tourists. So we booked the snow tire car more than 2 months in advance. As for the mountain driving route, we took the Gifu route to Hida Takayama, which is one of the regions where snow falls earlier than anywhere else. At first, we didn't think it would snow so much, but in fact, it was during the cold wave in Japan, and snow fell all the way to Nagoya, which we had never experienced before. Along the way, there was thick snow covering the road, and some ice. We had to go slowly because in addition to the mountains, the road was slippery. Even with snow tires, we had to be extremely careful. There were cars coming the other way from time to time, but there were many times when we were the only ones driving in the white mountains. Sometimes, cars stepped on the snow and made a creaking sound. The wheels seem to be slipping, but not much. The car system is good. After leaving the mountain, there were rest stops at intervals to use the bathroom and sometimes play in the snow.. I had to buy a cup of hot coffee from him for 200 yen, 42 baht to relieve my embarrassment. In summary, the cost of gas for driving up the mountain, round trip for about 400 km, was 5,200 yen or about 1,170 baht, which was worth it. But if you take the expressway round trip, you have to add another 1,600 baht because the expressway fee in Japan is more expensive than the gas fee. This trip is cheaper to split than taking public transportation because if you take a bus round trip, it will be about 3,000 baht per person from Nagoya to Shirakawa-go.
