It’s hard to imagine that over 40 kilometres of tunnels were dug by hand through solid rock. You can walk through the tunnels and learn how they were used during the siege. The route is well marked and provides interesting information about this important period in Gibraltar's history. For history buffs, this is an immersive experience. Entrance to the reserve is included in the ticket price. In the tunnel system you can see relics of the great siege of the 18th century (cannons and wax dolls in period costumes, weapons), or part of the tunnels from the Second World War. The different cannon locations and the stories behind them are amazing, and you could easily spend hours exploring the rich history.
