Tochoji Temple (東長寺)

Tochoji Temple is a hidden gem in Fukuoka that blew me away! It’s home to Japan’s largest wooden Buddha statue, and standing in front of it was truly mesmerizing. The temple has a quiet, spiritual atmosphere, making it a perfect break from the busy city. One of the most unique experiences was walking through the pitch-black tunnel beneath the Buddha, which symbolizes the journey to enlightenment. It was an eerie but incredibly meaningful experience! The temple is also known for its beautiful five-story pagoda, which looks stunning in every season, especially with cherry blossoms in spring or red leaves in autumn. It’s just a short walk from Hakata Station, so it’s super easy to visit.
