The Fuji Shibazakura Festival is a spring event held at the foot of Mount Fuji in the Lake Motosu Resort area, typically from mid-April to late May each year. During this time, approximately 800,000 shibazakura flowers bloom in shades of pink, white, and purple, creating a stunning carpet-like landscape that beautifully complements the majestic Mount Fuji. I visited on May 19, and while the flowers were past their peak bloom and starting to wilt, the sheer number of blossoms still created a vibrant and colorful scene for photography. The park is divided into several viewing areas and walking trails, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the pink floral sea. There’s also an observation deck offering panoramic views, perfect for capturing postcard-worthy photos. Additionally, there are charming photo spots designed for visitors to take Instagram-worthy pictures. Beyond flower viewing, the festival grounds feature food stalls and souvenir shops. On sunny days, you can enjoy snacks from food trucks while sitting in the outdoor area, admiring the flowers, Mount Fuji, and savoring delicious treats—a truly delightful experience.
