Famen Temple

Famen Temple, also known as the "True Body Pagoda", is located in Fufeng County, Baoji City, the hometown of Emperor Yan and the land of bronze ware. It is a key cultural relic protection unit in China, 110 kilometers east of Xi'an city center, and 90 kilometers west of Baoji city center. Famen Temple was originally built during the Huanling period at the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, with a history of more than 1700 years. It was renamed "Famen Temple" during the reign of Emperor Gaozu of Tang. Famen Temple is known as the imperial temple and has become a Buddhist holy land revered by the nation for housing the finger bone relics of Sakyamuni Buddha. The Famen Temple Pagoda is honored as the "Protecting the Nation True Body Pagoda". The Famen Temple Cultural Scenic Area, where the temple is located, is a national 5A-level tourist attraction. Famen Temple's underground palace is the largest pagoda underground palace seen to date. The Famen Temple underground palace unearthed the finger bone relics of Sakyamuni Buddha, copper stupa, eight-treasure box, silver flower double-wheel twelve-ring tin staff, and other supreme Buddhist treasures. The Famen Temple Treasure Hall houses more than two thousand pieces of Tang Dynasty national treasures unearthed from the Famen Temple underground palace, making it the most in the world for a temple.
