Friedrichshafen, Germany, the birthplace of Zeppelin and Maybach

Although Fürthhamn has a short history, its industrial manufacturing occupies a very important position in modern German history. Fürthshafen is a city located on the northern shore of Lake Constance in southern Germany, on a bay on the southwestern edge of the Schussen River, close to the borders of Switzerland and Austria. Founded in 1811, Fürttemberg was part of the New Kingdom of Württemberg, an ally of France during the Napoleonic Wars. It was named after King Frederick I of Württemberg, who privileged it as a free port and transshipment point for the kingdom's Swiss trade. King William I continued to improve the city, including the purchase of the ship William. Government ministers and high-ranking officials built villas around the Royal Castle, and the city was visited by many foreign tourists, including Russian Tsar Alexander II. In 1847, the first track of the Royal Württemberg Railway was laid, connecting the port with Ravensburg. In 1850 a connection was made to Heilbronn, and in 1869 a ferry to Romanshorn in Switzerland began operating. Ferdinand von Zeppelin established his famous airship factory in the late 19th century. On July 2, 1900, the 128m long Zeppelin airship LZ 1 successfully took off from the floating hangar. Other aerospace companies, including Maybach, were also established in Fürthshafen to help serve an industry that was a major driving force in World War I. The presence of Zeppelin, Maybach, Dorni and ZF, as well as the factory that produced the world's first long-range ballistic missile V-2, was also located in Fürttemberg, making it an important industrial center in Germany during World War II. As a result, the city became a target of Allied bombing between June 1943 and February 1945. The most accurate one occurred on April 28, 1944, and destroyed much of the old city center.
