[Below are some recommended foods that I heard about from my local friends during my study abroad in Freiburg!] Freiburg is a city with many students, and there are many delicious cafes and restaurants as well as beautiful churches and shopping. In particular, the cafe "Schmidt" located very close to Freiburg Central Station is recommended by university professors! I had never eaten a tart in Japan with a crispy bottom like a cookie. (Photos show Black Forest cherry cake and strawberry cake) I especially recommend the cherry cake. The cherries soaked in liquor go well with the light, low-fat fresh cream. The chocolate and cherries sprinkled on the chocolate sponge add a nice texture! There is also a snack store about a minute away from the cafe, where you can enjoy sandwiches and quiches depending on your mood that day. You can also buy bread filled with a lot of hard rye, which is typical of Germany. There is also a schnitzel restaurant near the university where you can eat at an affordable price. It's relatively cheap compared to other stores, so I used to go there a lot. Finally, it's not just about Freiburg, but there are a lot of gelato shops in Germany. My university is surrounded by gelato shops, so I often went there to buy gelato even during short breaks.
