West of Spain ~ Zamora (Region) This beautiful town is located in the heart of the Arribes del Duero Nature Reserve, on a hill, 64 km from the city of Zamora. Its privileged location offers stunning views over the green landscape of Arribes del Duero. It is particularly noteworthy for its well-preserved popular architecture. Along the sloping streets you will find old houses with solid facades and coats of arms, or the most picturesque corners of the area, such as the arches that lead to the Alcazar area or Torrejón or Nogal streets. Some remains of the walls of the Doña Urraca Castle still exist. The Church of the Assumption is one of the most interesting monuments: although it has Gothic features, it still has many Romanesque portals with unique capitals. Mention must also be made of the churches of Santa Colomba, La Soledad, Santa Cruz and San Albín. Another curiosity is the town's underground wine cellars, some of which can be visited.
