Evian town in the Alps

Evian-les-Bains (commonly known as Evian) is the origin of the Evian mineral water, which is almost known to everyone in China. It is a municipality in the northern part of the Savoy department in the Auvergne-Lorna-Alpes region in southeastern France. It is located on the southern shore of Lake Geneva and is an upscale lakeside resort and spa town. Over the past two centuries, royal members such as British King Edward VII and King George V and Egyptian King Farouk, as well as famous French writers, poets and socialist feminists Countess Anne de Noël and Marcel Proust, one of the most influential writers of the 20th century, have visited this town. The springs of Évian-les-Bains were little known at the time of the French Revolution. But the First French Empire's interest in spa towns inspired a scientist to analyze the Evian thermal springs in 1807 and 1808. In 1823, the Geneva entrepreneur Mr. Fauconnier founded the Evian Mineral Water Company and in March 1827 purchased two springs in the city, including the one named after the Cachat family. Since then, Evian has become synonymous with health, hydration and an obscure town in the French Alps. But Mr. Fauconnier's company eventually went bankrupt and Evian Mineral Water was acquired by Hôtel des Bains.
