Ancient city of Herculaneum 🗺️

#ancienttown Just got back from visiting Herculaneum, and it was absolutely fascinating! 🏛️ This ancient town is often overshadowed by Pompeii, but it’s so well-preserved and much less crowded. The entrance fee was €13, and it’s worth every cent. Walking through the ruins, you can see homes with original wooden beams and even some of the second stories still intact. It feels like you’re stepping back in time, especially when you see the stunning mosaics and frescoes that have survived for centuries. 🎨 One of the highlights was the House of the Deer, with its beautiful courtyard and marble decorations. The bathhouses are also incredibly well-preserved, and you can still see the intricate tile work. 🚿 Unlike Pompeii, Herculaneum was a wealthier town, so the houses are a bit more luxurious, offering a different glimpse into ancient Roman life. The site is smaller and more manageable, so you can explore at a relaxed pace without feeling overwhelmed. Afterward, I took a short drive to the nearby Naples Archaeological Museum to see even more artifacts from the site.
