How to buy a Melbourne myki card

I bought a myki card to use when riding trains and trams in Melbourne, so I'll post it here for reference. You don't need a myki card in the free tram zone in central Melbourne. However, some routes go outside the free zone, so you should be careful until you get used to it. I bought a myki card at Southern Cross Station! I wanted to use Campbellwell Station and Prahran Station in one day, so I charged it for one day instead of two hours to be generous. I paid 6 AUD for the card + 7.6 AUD for unlimited rides in one day. Please note that the card fee is not a deposit and is not refundable! I paid the price for unlimited rides in one day, but I think they will refund it if it was within two hours. They will also tell you the platform number, so don't worry and ask them.
