The castle has been the site of many conflicts during the Moorish period and the Christian Reconquest, which reflects some of the changes that have taken place.

Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Alicante (Region) A historic fortress with Moorish architecture dating back to the 10th/11th century. It only costs 3 euros to enter and takes a few hours to explore. Very well illustrated, the tourist panels explain all its features: vineyards, residential areas, cellars, towers etc and the history, although not in English, shows their age in itself. The fortifications are in good condition, but there is little space for permanent exhibitions. There is a cafeteria and toilets near the top of the mountain. The castle is situated on top of this 60m high hill and the views are stunning.
