Green mountains and clear waters, the Zen atmosphere is leisurely - Shuiyu Temple

Shuiyu Temple is one of the seventy-two temples under Shaolin Temple, an important carrier of Shaolin culture. It faces south and is grand in scale. To the east, it is adjacent to Canpo, with lush chestnut and poplar trees covering the hillside, guarding the right flank of the temple. To the west, it leans against the western ridge of Shuiyu Temple, and not far behind the ridge, the rugged Xiaoxiong Mountain stands magnificently, standing tall in Songshan, protecting the left flank of the temple. In front of the temple flows the Mayu River, with its clear waters and a valley full of rugged pebbles, strangely shaped, interspersed with water and rocks, each with its own charm. The Shuiyu Temple was built in the seventh year of the Zhenguan era of the Tang Dynasty, and it has been more than 1,300 years to date. It has experienced wars and been destroyed many times throughout history. Although it bears the name of a lower court of Shaolin, it is not well known to the world. The temple is surrounded by mountains, with streams babbling, lush woods, a higher terrain, and a refreshing climate, making it a place where generations of Shaolin monks and virtuous elders have practiced and retired. Here, with green mountains and clear waters, morning bells and evening drums, and a leisurely Zen atmosphere, it seems like a pure land in the noisy world. Being here, all one feels is tranquility and peace.
