Yue Li Tian Zhong - Songshan Zhongyue Temple The Zhongyue Temple in Songshan, Dengfeng, Henan, was formerly the Taishi Temple. It was first built in the Qin Dynasty as a place to worship the mountain god of Taishi Mountain. It has been expanded and rebuilt in successive dynasties since then. In the 18th year of Kaiyuan Period in Tang Dynasty (730 AD), Emperor Xuanzong of Tang imitated the story of Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty to add to the Taishi Temple and renovated the Zhongyue Temple, laying the foundation for the current temple site. The current architecture and layout retain the appearance of the building after it was rebuilt during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. Zhongyue Temple is the best-preserved and largest Taoist temple complex among the Five Sacred Mountains, and it has basically retained its regulations after being rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty. There are 39 existing buildings including palaces, pavilions, palaces, towers, pavilions and terraces with nearly 400 rooms, more than 100 stone steles and more than 330 ancient cypresses from the Han Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty.
