Andriake Ancient City

Andriake was the ancient port of Myra, one of the most important cities in the Lycian League, located near today’s Demre in Antalya, Türkiye. The city played a crucial role in maritime trade during the Roman and Byzantine periods thanks to its strategic position on the Mediterranean coast. Historical Significance Founded around the 4th century BC, Andriake developed as a major harbor city for Myra. It served as a key trade center where goods such as grain, wine, and olive oil were stored and shipped. The city’s large granary (horreum), built by Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century AD, is one of its most remarkable structures.
