Kyushu National Museum - The Largest National Museum

Kyushu National Museum, located in the hilly area of Dazaifu Tenmangu, is the largest among the national museums. The curved roof symbolizes the undulating mountains, and the exterior wall made of double-layered glass structure makes this huge building particularly eye-catching. Unlike other museums in Japan which are mainly art museums, Kyushu National Museum focuses on history. It displays many important cultural relics, including the national treasure 'Zhou Maoshu Loves Lotus' by Kano Masanobu, and holds special exhibitions periodically.
