Arrived just before sunset when the air was calm and the jungle quiet. Inside the cave, millions of fruit bats hung tightly packed, like a dark, living tapestry. Then around 6 PM, one by one, they began to take flight—soon the sky filled with swirling bats, moving as a single shadowy cloud against the fading light.
