The Treasure Homestay in Datong Ancient City: Landlord’s Private Check-in Guide

Hey fam, anyone get this? I’m running a homestay right next to Daiwang Mansion in Datong Ancient City, and every day you can fully immerse yourself in the romance of the ancient capital 😭 As a native Datong landlord, when I renovated this little courtyard, my goal was to give friends visiting Datong a “home in the ancient city,” not just a place to crash ✨ The location is absolutely perfect The homestay is just outside the east wall of Daiwang Mansion, a 2-minute walk to the mansion’s entrance. Open your window in the morning and you’ll see the flying eaves and upturned corners of the mansion’s roof; in the evening, you can catch the stunning sunset glow over the mansion. It’s only a 5-10 minute walk to Huayan Temple and Shanhua Temple. You don’t even need to squeeze onto buses to explore the ancient city—just stroll around and you can check off most of the sights. No stress even if you have a lot of luggage! 🏡 The courtyard vibe is on point We preserved the brick-and-wood structure of old Shanxi residences and added modern, cozy decor. There’s a stone table and benches in the yard—perfect for sunbathing and tea in spring, leaf-watching and chatting in autumn, and at night you can string up some fairy lights, have a drink with friends, and look up at the starry sky of the ancient city. The atmosphere is just right 🤏 The bedding in the rooms meets star-rated standards, plus there’s underfloor heating throughout, so it’s warm and cozy even in winter! The washbasin has a large countertop, perfect for ladies to put all their skincare products—details matter, and your thoughtful landlord’s got you covered 😉 🍜 Landlord’s private food recommendations If you stay at my homestay, I’ve got to wholeheartedly recommend some local eats for you: ✅ Turn left 50 meters from the door and you’ll find a local Datong restaurant that’s super tasty and honest. ✅ Fenglin Pavilion isn’t far either, where you can try authentic shaomai, but I suggest going off-peak to avoid lines. ✅ If you get hungry at night, hit the ancient city night market. You must try Datong knife-cut noodles and lamb offal rice noodles—they’re so good you’ll lick the bowl. 💡 Check-in tips If you’re driving, contact me in advance and I’ll point you to free parking spots. There are usually long lines for tickets at Daiwang Mansion, so if you want to see the whole mansion, remember to book online. Before you come, tell me your itinerary—I’ll help plan your route for free and even give you a random little gift. If you’re thinking about visiting Datong soon, hit me up! Can’t wait to have you as guests at the little courtyard~
