📍 Huayan Temple, Pukou, Nanjing 🚗 It’s best to drive yourself; there are a few parking spots at the temple entrance. This place is still relatively unknown, mostly visited by people coming to take photos. In 2023, I visited Huayan Temple in Datong, Shanxi. Unlike the solemn and steady atmosphere there, Nanjing’s Huayan Temple exudes a kind of simplicity. The thousand-year-old ginkgo tree in the courtyard seems like an elder, watching over the vicissitudes of a thousand years. Even today, it still stands here. On the day I took photos, I was lucky to have half a day of clear skies. Under the light and shadow, it felt like a dialogue with time and space.
