Datong | Datong Volcano Group National Geological Park

This trip took me to the Datong Volcanoes, which was quite an interesting experience. Here's a brief introduction: ·Transportation Near the Drum Tower in Datong Ancient City, opposite the Garden Hotel (Drum Tower Parking Lot), you can find the sightseeing trolley with a very noticeable sign for Langwo Mountain. Departure times: 8:30, 9:30, 13:30, 14:30 Return times: 11:00, 13:30, 16:00, 17:30 This trolley goes directly to the visitor center without stops, so make sure to board at Drum Tower. The whole journey takes about 50 minutes. After getting off, you can walk to Langwo Mountain or take a 10 yuan shuttle (not necessary). ·Activities This time I mainly walked around Langwo Mountain, circling the crater. The entire path has wooden boardwalks. The wind at the top is extremely strong, but the view is great. The scenery becomes somewhat repetitive towards the end, but overall it's a good experience - you can even pick up volcanic rocks. The volcanic scenic area is free to enter. It takes about an hour to walk around Langwo Mountain. There are no supply points along the way, so just bring a bottle of water. There's a small shop at the entrance.
