#VisitKorat Thep Wihan Thep Witthayakom, Wat Ban Rai, was built on the occasion of Phra Thep Witthayakom or Luang Por Khun Parisuttho, the former abbot of Wat Ban Rai, turning 90 in 2013. The purpose of the construction was in accordance with Luang Por Khun's intention to make it a great temple of the Tripitaka and a Dharma park. With the faith of Buddhists, artists, local craftsmen, and ordinary people, they have participated in the creation, resulting in a work of Buddhist art that is the best, not only in Thailand, because it is a magnificent form of stucco sculpture decorated with ceramics that are world-class in size and use approximately 20 million ceramic pieces. The construction used the Benjarong ceramic installation technique. It holds the title of the largest Buddhist temple in the Theravada sect in Thailand and is the largest Dharma temple in Asia. Inside the four-story Thep Wihan, there are contemporary paintings depicting the life of the Buddha and the teachings from the Tripitaka. The rooftop is where metal casts of the walking Buddha and metal casts of Luang Por Khun are enshrined.
