20 photos are never enough — so here’s a tribute to some unforgettable eats from this Dongbei trip: 🍚 Sea intestine rice bowl (海肠捞饭) – found everywhere in Dalian and worth every bite. 🔥 Northeastern-style grilled skewers (东北烤串) – from bustling street stalls to cozy restaurants with live music, pick your vibe. 🌽 Grilled corn & stir-fried green bamboo shoots with jellyfish (青笋炒海蜇) – crunchy, fresh, so addictive. 🍒 Cherry pork (车厘子肉) – sweet & sour, super appetizing. 🦪 Fried oyster at 喜鼎 – must tried restaurant in Dalian- hands down the best fried oyster I’ve had. 🥟 Sea urchin dumplings (海胆饺子) – indulgent and rich. 🍰 Fuwa fuwa soufflé (舒芙蕾) – soft and dreamy. 🐟 Braised Spanish mackerel (红烧鲅鱼) at a Yingkou restaurant – classic comfort. 🍖 Old-style sweet and sour pork (老式锅包肉) – tried it across Shenyang, Harbin, and Dalian. All versions = chef’s kiss. 🍆🥔 Three earthy treasures (地三鲜) and 凉皮 fresh silky cold noodles and oh so refreshing– a local classic, especially good in Harbin. 🍗 Korean-style pork trotters (韩式猪脚) in Shenyang – tender & full of flavor- MUST TRY! 🦪 Steamed oyster with garlic from Color TV Night Market – simple, fragrant, satisfying- so affordable and fresh! Grilled eel at Xita – smoky and delicious🤎 🍒🍓 Seasonal fruits: Dalian cherries (大连车厘子), Dandong strawberries (丹东草莓) – juicy and fresh- SUPER WORTHY! 🍠 Taro & purple sweet potato balls (芋泥紫薯丸子) + ice cream at Shenyang Palace – perfect mid-day treat. …and so many more we couldn’t squeeze in. Will be dreaming of Dongbei until next time. ✨🧊 #springitinerary #dongbeieats #china #lovechinesefood #chinatrip #dalianfoods #shenyangeats #harbineats #fooddiaries

TATOC

Visiting TATOC in Harbin was one of the highlights of my trip. This restaurant is not just a place to eat, but a journey back in time. Established in 1901, it carries the charm of “Old Russia in Harbin” and is decorated with such attention to detail that you feel like you are stepping into another era. From the moment you enter, the atmosphere is warm, nostalgic, and a little theatrical – chandeliers, antique furniture, shelves of old books, and even a piano in the corner. It is truly a museum-like dining experience. The menu reflects Harbin’s unique Russian-Chinese culinary heritage. I ordered the classic Harbin salad, served with the famous Dà Liè Bā bread, which was hearty and comforting. The borscht here is slightly sweeter than in Russia, but rich and flavorful, with sour cream served on the side. The beef Stroganoff was tender, perfectly seasoned, and came with mashed potatoes. The portions are generous, and everything feels authentic while also adapted to local tastes. Service was attentive and polite, even though English is not widely spoken – the staff tried their best to help with explanations, and the menu includes English translations. Waiting times were reasonable, and dishes arrived freshly prepared. What I liked most was the combination of history and dining. TATOC is more than a restaurant; it is a living reminder of Harbin’s multicultural past, when Russian emigrants brought their architecture, cuisine, and traditions to this northern Chinese city. Eating here feels like participating in that history. I would recommend TATOC not only for the food, but also for the atmosphere and the story it tells. It’s the perfect place for anyone who wants to experience Harbin beyond sightseeing – through culture, taste, and history. ⭐ My rating: 5/5 – a must-visit in Harbin. #китайбезвизы #harbin #chinatrip #tatoc塔道斯
