The moment you step into Shanhai Xijing, you’re captivated by the play of light and shadow—wooden louvered screens adorned with geometric lines slice through the morning mist over Erhai Lake, while the warm texture of natural teak clashes with metal trims, creating a modern poetic Nanyang aesthetic. The most delightful touch is the indigo hand-painted artwork above the bed, mirroring the shifting blue hues of Erhai Lake outside the window. The designer has framed this 270° ecological corridor into an eternal masterpiece through the art of composition. The 270° floor-to-ceiling windows are the true soul of this room. In the early morning, wrapped in a down comforter at the center of the bed, watch as the first rays of sunlight pierce through the double-layered illusion sheer curtains, casting a gradient of gilded hues on the walls. The designer intentionally lowered the window sill to just 75cm above the floor, creating a natural viewfinder—no need to lean out; lying down, you can witness Erhai Lake transform from deep jade to crystalline blue. Stepping into the bathroom feels like traveling through an old Penang mansion. Hand-laid arched art tiles extend in a gradient of Morandi tones, while embedded brass wall lamps cast amber highlights on the matte tiles. When the cedar scent of Acqua di Parma’s Colonia cologne drifts through the steam, you realize even the fragrance is part of the designer’s hidden Nanyang code.
