Wandering around, taking a walk in Xizhou

Xizhou is only about 20 kilometers away from the ancient city. It takes about 50 minutes to ride an electric bike. The breeze blows along the way, and the rice fields are fragrant with flowers. When a local grandma appears a few steps from the roadside selling charcoal-grilled Xizhou Baba, you are almost there. It’s not far, but I don’t go there often. Occasionally on a weekend, I’ll set out around 10 a.m. and arrive around 11 a.m. I’ll have some cold rice noodles and Xizhou Baba and feel very satisfied! You must go to the one on Sifang Street, and you must order the rose bean paste flavor. The rose sauce is fragrant and sweet, and the bean paste has a rich taste. When you mix them together, the cake is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and juicy when you bite into it. It is really amazing and unforgettable. If you want to eat baba, you have to go to Xizhou, nowhere else will work. Xizhou Ancient Town is still more charming than the ancient city, and the Bai architecture is better preserved. Dali Ancient City was completely modified into a unified style one year, which damaged many old shops with rich cultural characteristics in the ancient city. Xizhou is the original appearance of Dali Ancient City. Various small shops have different stories, and there are many snacks. The flavors are all worth trying. My favorite street is a seldom visited street. It seems like the ruins of an ancient Bai building, quiet and cold. The green tiles and white walls show the family style of the Bai people, which is clean and pure. Just sit down on the steps in a corner, bask in the sun and listen to songs from the 70s and 80s playing from an invisible speaker at the entrance of an old-fashioned maintenance department opposite. It really takes you back to that era. There were not many people, a warm but not dry summer afternoon, and a quiet street. In that era, many people took naps! Very good, accidentally, tears flowed down my face. There is also the ancient banyan tree that is more than 500 years old, with its roots going deeper and deeper into the soil, intertwined and with lush branches and leaves, witnessing the past and present lives of the people of Xizhou and various foreign tourists for more than 500 years. I am not very interested in the Xizhou rice fields, but I do need proof of the ruins and red walls as evidence of history. We need proof of their past existence, how they have continued to the present, and what they will look like in the future.
