Chongsheng Temple

Chongsheng Temple is located at the foot of Cangshan Mountain and on the shore of Erhai Lake, north of Dali Ancient City in Yunnan Province. Historically, nine emperors of the Dali Kingdom became monks at Chongsheng Temple, which is called "Tianlong Temple" in Jin Yong's martial arts novel "Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils." Chongsheng Temple is famous for its Three Pagodas, Nanzhao Jianzhi Bell, Rain Copper Guanyin Statue, Three Saints Gold Statue, and the "Buddha Capital" plaque. The temple is mainly made of fine white marble, Putian green stone, and white marble from Fujian Province, and many stone sculptures are carved in the temple. The architectural brackets, doors, windows, and detailed decorations of Chongsheng Temple are all made of high-quality red cedar wood, and the central axis buildings are decorated with the highest standard of golden dragon and phoenix patterns, while the side axis buildings are decorated with elegant dark purple patterns, and the corridors and courtyards are decorated with lively Suzhou-style patterns.
