Spain's Stunning Hanging Houses

A Journey Through the Central Plateau of Spain ~ Cuenca (Region) The entire surface of the Huécar Gorge is adorned with hanging houses, but only three are open to visitors. These houses feature traditional Gothic-style architecture, and some original elements can still be seen in the section housing the Spanish Museum of Abstract Art. The interiors are rich with wooden details, while the exterior entrances showcase Renaissance-style design, originally part of an ancient palace from Villarejo de la Peñuela. One of these houses, known as the Mermaid House, even hosts a restaurant.
