The Cathedral Church of Saint Michael, commonly known as Coventry Cathedral, is the seat of the Bishop of Coventry and the Diocese of Coventry within the Anglican Church of England. The cathedral is located in Coventry, West Midlands, England🤗🤗🤗 In itself it is a 14th century Gothic church, designated as a cathedral in 1918 and remained a ruin after being bombed during World War II😵 The new St. Michael's Cathedral, built immediately after the destruction of the former, was consecrated in 1962. In the ruins, you can still see the original exterior wall of the old sanctuary. 😎👍🏼 The destroyed cathedral is a symbol of wartime destruction and barbarism, as well as peace and reconciliation 🕊️🕊️🕊️ and the new church adopted a modernist design. The interior is notable for its huge tapestry of Christ (once thought to be the largest in the world), designed by Graham Sutherland. The abstract design occupies the entire height of the bow-shaped baptismal font, including 195 panes, from white to dark. The stained glass windows in the nave face the congregation. The whole new church is simply an art building that incorporates a lot of artwork.
