Northern Dynasties Archaeological Museum

The Northern Dynasties Archaeological Museum is located in Ci County, Hebei Province, and is the only research center in China dedicated to the culture of the Northern Dynasties. The museum covers a building area of 12,700 square meters and an exhibition area of 4,000 square meters. It is designed and built around the theme of Northern Dynasties culture, incorporating the chevron-shaped elements derived from the murals and grottoes of the period into the main architecture, highlighting the historical atmosphere of the Northern Dynasties. The museum is divided into three exhibition halls named 'Magnificent Imperial Capital,' 'Vast Ceremonial Rites,' and 'Boundless Civilization,' along with a special exhibition hall. It houses over 5,000 pieces (sets) of cultural relics, most of which were unearthed from the Northern Dynasties tomb clusters within Ci County. These artifacts showcase decades of archaeological achievements in Ci County during the Northern Dynasties, including precious cultural relics such as pottery figurines, porcelain, and murals from the Eastern Wei and Northern Qi periods.
