Thought it was an ordinary water town, but Xiazhuhu gave me an extraordinary surprise!

Xiazhuhu, a gentle encounter with nature and history 🌿 As a traveler who loves nature and history, my trip to Xiazhuhu was full of surprises, and I can’t wait to share my genuine experience. First Impression: Stunning Water Town Scenery Upon arriving at Xiazhuhu, I was immediately struck by the breathtaking view. Sunshine sparkled on the lake surface, vast reeds swayed in the wind, rustling softly as if telling ancient stories. Riding a boat weaving through the islands felt like stepping into a flowing water town painting, with new scenes around every corner. The boat’s ripples startled flocks of wild ducks and egrets, fluttering their wings and soaring into the sky—so beautiful it took my breath away. Happy Island: A Double Feast of Fun and Photos Happy Island was one of my favorites on this trip. Stepping ashore, I was drawn to the sea of zinnias—red, pink, and white flowers competing in beauty, like a colorful carpet laid on the earth. My friends and I ran and took photos among the flowers, feeling like fairies in a floral wonderland 🧚‍♀️ The island’s adorable petting zoo was super fun, with cute rabbits, fluffy alpacas, and lively monkeys that made you want to get close. Families with kids can play here all day. There are also many photo spots, like grandma’s flower chair and big straw hats—any snap is a hit on social media, overflowing with girlish charm. Bird Island: A Harmonious Song of Nature and Life Bird Island is a highlight of Xiazhuhu. Entering here feels like stepping into a bird kingdom. The “panda of birds,” the crested ibis, is the most eye-catching. Their elegant posture and pure white feathers shine with a sacred glow under the sun, and their red cheeks look like a touch of rouge—so beautiful it moves your heart. Watching them jump and fly among the branches, I felt the magic of nature and the charm of life. The Bird Island’s specimen hall with 1,419 species of animals and plants also amazed me. The displayed specimens deepened my understanding of the wetland’s ecosystem and biodiversity, making me cherish this natural home even more. Jianjia Island: A Cultural Journey Through Millennia Jianjia Island offers a unique experience. Riding a rowboat through the reed marshes while listening to the boatman’s melodious songs felt like traveling back to ancient times. Climbing the observation tower, the beautiful scenery of Xiazhuhu unfolds—distant mountains, nearby waters, and scattered islands form a stunning landscape painting. At the “Mother-in-Law’s Tea House,” I tasted the local three-course tea. Sweet tea was fragrant and sweet, salty tea rich and mellow, and clear tea light and elegant—each tea with a unique flavor, like different stages of life. Sipping tea while enjoying the view outside the window, I felt the charm of intangible cultural heritage—relaxing and satisfying. Fangfeng Ancient Kingdom Cultural Park: Tracing the Footsteps of History Fangfeng Ancient Kingdom Cultural Park was very rewarding. Entering here felt like traveling back 4,000 years to the Fangfeng tribe. Bamboo groves, altars, and Fangfeng statues—every relic tells an ancient story. Through the visit, I learned about the history and culture of the Fangfeng Ancient Kingdom and felt the wisdom and creativity of ancient people. Standing before the Fangfeng statue, I seemed to see him leading his tribe to expand their territory, filling me with awe. Food and Accommodation: Satisfaction for Taste Buds and Body During this trip, I tasted the specialty fish soup rice. Fresh local fish stewed in a wood-fired iron pot, tender meat, and rich broth. Following the “scoop, pour, pick, mix, eat” method, every bite was full of fresh aroma, leaving an unforgettable aftertaste. I stayed at a farmhouse in the Mogan Mountain countryside. The king-size bed room was clean and tidy, with a balcony to enjoy mountain views and a pool to relax. The soundproofing was average, and I could hear outside noises at night, but overall it was comfortable. Practical Tips Xiazhuhu is conveniently accessible. I drove from Hangzhou in one hour, and the scenic area has ample parking. Taking the high-speed train to Deqing Station, then a taxi for 8–15 minutes or bus 105 (3 yuan) also works. There are many mosquitoes in the scenic area, so bring mosquito repellent; the mountain has big temperature differences, so bring a jacket; supplies are limited, so bring snacks and water. Xiazhuhu offers stunning natural scenery, rich history and culture, delicious food, and comfortable accommodation. If you love nature and enjoy exploring history, this place is definitely not to be missed!
