Wanling Ancient Town | A trip to ancient towns around Chongqing

Wanling Ancient Town is located in Rongchang District, Chongqing, right at the border with Sichuan. It was a happy coincidence that brought me to Rongchang, and you can get there easily by navigation. How could one miss out on Rongchang goose, Pugai noodles, and a stroll around Wanling Ancient Town when visiting this area? The ancient town is quite large, and it takes about an hour to wander around leisurely. There are many small shops where you can taste Huangliangfen, Youguozi, Zierbab, and even braised goose, all of which are local specialties. Across from the ancient town, there's a big Buddha statue that seems like a smaller version of the Leshan Giant Buddha. Of course, there's also the famous bridge. When we visited, the water level had just risen, almost submerging the bridge, so be careful as the streams can swell in summer. There are also boat rides available here, the water is very calm and safe, offering a nice experience in the town. We drove from Chongqing, and there's a parking lot at the entrance with plenty of spaces on a regular day. If you have time, you can also visit Xiabu Town and Antao Town, as Rongchang is nationally famous for its intangible cultural heritage in ceramics and Xiabu fabric.
