The cotton storehouse was originally a building for storing and protecting cotton rolls from fire and theft. It is said that this cotton storehouse was built by Torao Takeuchi in the late Meiji to early Taisho periods, and there are only a few of them left on the Chita Peninsula. It is a precious cotton storehouse. Chita cotton began in the early Edo period, and in the mid-Edo period, Nakajima Shichiemon of Okada Village introduced bleaching techniques, and Chita cotton flourished to the point that it was called the best in Japan for "Chita bleached cotton" sent to Edo. This storehouse has threads dyed with plants found nearby, and you can experience hand weaving using these threads in an old hatago that was used in the Meiji period. Fabric miscellaneous goods and clothing woven with plant-dyed threads are also sold, and the warm atmosphere inside the storehouse is soothing.
