🌳 Chișinău: Europe's Green & Unexplored Capital

🇲🇩 Welcome to Chișinău, a city of surprising contrasts and one of Europe's last true off-the-beaten-path destinations. Moldova's capital is a fascinating blend of stark, imposing Soviet-era architecture and an incredible amount of lush, green space, earning it the nickname the "Green City". 🏛️ Grand boulevards and monumental government buildings tell the story of the nation's 20th-century past, while sprawling parks like the beautiful Ștefan cel Mare Central Park offer a tranquil, leafy heart where locals gather, play chess, and enjoy life. This is not a city packed with typical tourist traps; it's an authentic, living capital waiting to be discovered. 🍷 Above all, Chișinău is the vibrant gateway to Moldova's world-class wine country. The city itself is buzzing with a new generation of stylish wine bars and restaurants celebrating the nation's incredible food and wine, making it the perfect base for any gourmand or oenophile. ✅ What to experience in Chișinău: • Relax in Valea Morilor Park: Walk down the stunning cascading stairs to the beautiful lake, a favourite spot for locals to unwind. • Explore Stephen the Great Boulevard: Witness the city's most impressive architecture, including the Triumphal Arch and the Government House. • Dive into the Wine Scene: Visit a modern city wine bar like "Carpe Diem" to sample a huge range of Moldova's best wines by the glass. 💡 Pro Tip: While English is spoken in many hotels and restaurants, learning a few basic Romanian phrases will go a long way. A friendly "Bună ziua" (Good day) and "Mulțumesc" (Thank you) will be warmly appreciated and enhance your interactions. 🏨 Hotel Recommendation: For the most stylish stay in the city, we recommend the Berd's Design Hotel. As Moldova's first and only design hotel, it offers unique, luxurious rooms and a fantastic restaurant that beautifully complements the city's creative, modern spirit. National History Museum of Moldova

#bucketlistreboot The National History Museum Originally built as a lyceum, this then later became what it is today. The museum is structured into many scientific sections: Ancient History and Archaeology, Medieval History, History of Basarabia, Contemporary History, Treasures. The museum highlights artefacts that showcase a common heritage with Romania and the wider Romanian space as well as items from Soviet and Russian imperial rule. One thing we found very interesting is that whilst the objects are described i.e. this is a fountain pen, there aren’t any descriptions to explain the background behind those objects. So some background knowledge beforehand is needed to fully appreciate the museum and its artefacts. #moldova #chisinau

Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ's Nativity

#bucketlistreboot Nativity Cathedral and Cathedral Park Now this is a really nice park with plenty of willow trees and green spaces. In the middle of the park one can observe the white Nativity Cathedral. The Cathedral of Christ’s Nativity is the main cathedral of the Moldovan Orthodox Church in Central Chișinau. It was commissioned by the governor of New Russia, Prince Mikhail Vorontsov, and Metropolitan Gavril Bănulescu-Bodoni in 1830. Inside the cathedral one can notice typical Orthodox motifs with very impressive holy paintings. We really enjoyed taking a stroll through the park as well. We actually sat down at one of the outdoors coffee shops and enjoyed and nice hot cup of cappuccino. Yum! #moldova #chisinau
