Obasute Terraced Rice Fields, Nagano

#cherryblossom25 Obasute is famous for its sweeping rice terraces, but during cherry blossom season, it becomes a painter’s dream. The pink trees bloom along the edges of the tiered fields, and when the paddies are flooded for planting, they reflect the sky and blossoms like mirrors. I visited just before sunset, and the entire landscape glowed with gold and pink tones — unreal. Locals were out tending the fields, and I even chatted with an elderly farmer who told me this is his favorite time of year.
