Alishan is not the name of a single mountain, but a general term for a specific area, geographically belonging to a region of the main ridge of the Alishan mountain range. The highest peak, Datashan, has an elevation of 2,662 meters, bordered by the Yushan mountain range to the east and the Xueshan mountain range to the north. The natural scenery is extremely rich, featuring sunrises, a sea of clouds, evening glows, sacred trees, and the railway (Alishan Forest Railway), collectively known as the 'Five Wonders of Alishan.'
