Wat Rong Suea Ten, Chiang Rai Province

Wat Rong Suea Ten is located in Rong Suea Ten Village, Rim Kok Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chiang Rai Province. It is situated along the Kok River on the eastern left bank of Chiang Rai Municipality, not far from the city center. Historically, this site was once an abandoned temple about 80-100 years ago. According to the elders, during that time, there were not many houses or residents, and the area was abundant with wildlife, especially tigers. Villagers passing through often saw tigers leaping across the streams, leading to the area being called "Rong Suea Ten" (Dancing Tiger Stream). The nearby village was also named "Ban Rong Suea Ten" after this. The temple was rebuilt because the villagers of Rong Suea Ten did not have a local place for religious activities. On important religious days, they had to travel to other temples, causing the community to scatter. Therefore, they collectively restored this abandoned temple to serve as a spiritual center for the villagers. The highlight of the temple is its main hall, which features a striking blue and gold color scheme. The blue represents the teachings of the Buddha spreading across the world, symbolizing truth based on reason and logic, akin to a clear blue sky. This is a contemporary Buddhist art style infused with the essence of Buddhist teachings. Around the temple, there are souvenir shops where visitors can purchase items to take home.
