[Chiang Mai, Thailand] View of Chiang Mai city from the golden Doi Suthep Temple

This temple is located on the summit of Mount Suthep, built by King Kuna, the 6th king of the Lanna Thai dynasty. To get there, take a taxi or songthaew from Chiang Mai city (there is a songthaew stop on Nimmanhaemin Road, at the north entrance of the old town). On the way back, a songthaew is waiting at the entrance, so you can share a ride. If you tell them the name of your hotel, they will drop you off near the hotel. 80 baht. The mountain road is steep, so if you get car sick, you should bring motion sickness medicine. *There is no motion sickness medicine in Thailand. It took about 30 minutes from Nimmanhaemin Road, but I felt sick when I got off. From the gate to the top of the mountain, there are 306 stone steps carved with two nagas (dragon kings), and you can enter the temple when you reach the top, but foreigners must pay an entrance fee of 30 baht before entering. You must take off your shoes inside the temple, and wearing clothes that show your skin is not allowed. (There were long pants available for rental at the entrance.) The temple is decorated with gold and has a typical Thai atmosphere. They sell incense sticks and lotus flowers for worship. You can see Chiang Mai city from the top of the mountain, and the breeze was nice.
