Chengmai Jinshan Temple, located in Jinjiang Town, Chengmai County, 56 kilometers southwest of Haikou City, Hainan Province, is a majestic Buddhist building. The temple is built on the mountain, overlooking the whole city. It is magnificent, with winding corridors and a magnificent atmosphere. The temple was first built during the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty. It was destroyed in war on the eve of liberation and rebuilt in 1993. With a total construction area of ​​more than 100 mu, Jinshan Temple is a magnificent building and is the largest Buddhist building in Hainan Province. In 2014, the 88.79-meter-tall, 16-story (13 above ground and 3 underground) Wanfu Changshou Medicine Buddha Pagoda, the tallest in Hainan, was built and consecrated. It enshrines the relics of the Buddhist master Venerable Benhuan, and has since become the Medicine Buddha's temple. Jinshan Temple in Chengmai is backed by Dipo Mountain and faces the Changsheng Lotus Pond. Climb up the stairs, and you will reach higher and higher. The plaque on the temple gate reads "Jinshan Temple". The Maitreya Buddha is enshrined in the Heavenly King Hall, and the Main Hall and Tathagata Hall are magnificent. There are a bronze bell and the Golden Orchid Pavilion on the left side of the temple, a drum tower and the Merit Square on the right side. The entire courtyard is covered with glazed green tiles and is surrounded by whitewashed walls. The entire temple is built on the mountain and beside the water, overlooking the surrounding area. The Nandu River is like a jade belt, the Nanshe Ridge is like a rosary, and you can see the sunrise from the sea mouth and the Five Finger Mountain among the clouds. Jinshan Temple faces south and is composed of three levels and three-bay buildings. The couplet at the mountain gate, "Observe yourself at ease, observe yourself at ease; see the Tathagata as you see him," is thought-provoking. The Maitreya Buddha is enshrined in the Heavenly King Hall. The couplet on the hall door, "Evening drum and morning bell awaken those who seek fame and fortune, while the sound of sutras and chanting of Buddha's name call back those who are lost in the sea of ​​suffering and dreams," has profound meaning. Above the Main Hall hangs a plaque inscribed with "Main Hall" by Zhao Puchu, and the couplet on the hall door, "Looking for the sweet rain in my heart, auspicious clouds surge from the blessed land of the world," is full of Zen meaning. The lifelike statues in the temple make people linger.
