Hainan Chengmai County - Luoyi Ancient Village

The houses in this ancient village are built with volcanic rocks, while in our inland areas, houses are generally made of rammed earth. Due to the geographical characteristics of Hainan, where volcanoes are prevalent, there is an abundance of volcanic rocks. The villagers used local materials when they first built the village. The natural materials and the surrounding lush greenery are in perfect harmony. Most of the residents have moved out of the stone houses, but there are still residents living in the village, raising geese, chickens, and sheep. There is still a sense of life here. There are also ancient post station ruins in the village, and it is said that Su Dongpo once passed by and stayed here briefly. There are also ancient pagodas from the Ming and Qing dynasties, but they have been destroyed, and what we see now are reconstructions. It's a very beautiful village. Walking around the village at random, you feel that everywhere is a scene. Not many people during the National Day holiday.
