Huanglongxi: A Great Place to Have Fun with Your Kids

Basic Information • Location: Southwest of Shuangliu District, Chengdu, Sichuan Province, located in the south of Chengdu Plain, bordering the Fu River (Jinjiang River) in the east and the Muma Mountain in the north. • Total area: 50.4 square kilometers. • Climate conditions: Subtropical monsoon climate, with mild climate, warm spring, hot summer, cool autumn, and mild winter, with a long frost-free period. 2. Historical Evolution • Long history: Huanglongxi Ancient Town has a history of more than 1,700 years. The earliest ancient book recording this establishment is "Song Hui Yao Ji Gao". • Important historical events: During the Three Kingdoms period, Zhuge Liang, the prime minister of the Shu Han Dynasty, once stationed troops here to prepare for the southern expedition. Zhang Xianzhong, the leader of the peasant army in the late Ming Dynasty, also fought fiercely with the government army here. • Development and prosperity: During the Tang and Song Dynasties, Huanglongxi Town became increasingly prosperous and became a distribution center for the Southern Silk Road. In the late Qing Dynasty, Huanglongxi Town belonged to Huanglong, Yong'an, and Shunhe townships in Huayang County and Fodong and Jiahe townships in Renshou County. 3. Main Attractions • Three County Yamen: Located in Gulong Temple, it was built in the Qing Dynasty. It was a place where Huayang, Pengshan, and Renshou counties historically resolved civil disputes, economic disputes, and banditry problems. It is the only three-county yamen in China. • Jinhua Nunnery: Built in the Ming Dynasty, it was rebuilt from the 52nd year of Qianlong (1787) to the 58th year of Qianlong (1793) in the Qing Dynasty. It is a Sichuan Provincial Cultural Relic Protection Unit. • Zhenjiang Temple: Located on the main street of the ancient town, it forms a unique pattern of "temples in the street and streets in the temples" with Gulong Temple and Chaoyin Temple. • Ancient Opera Stage: Also known as "Wanniantai", its history can be traced back to the Northern Song Dynasty. It is the only remaining ancient opera stage among the nine ancient towns in Huanglongxi. 4. Cultural Characteristics • Folk culture: Huanglongxi Ancient Town has well-preserved Ming and Qing residential buildings and profound folk culture, such as the Fire Dragon Lantern Dance and Burning Fire Dragon. • Film and television base: Huanglongxi Ancient Town is a natural film and television shooting base. Nearly 200 film and television films, such as the movie "Furong Town", "Zhuo Wenjun and Sima Xiangru", and the TV series "Zhu De's Childhood" and "Haideng Master", have been filmed here. It is known as the "Film and Television City". 5.
