# Chaozhou Youxiong Hotel | A Poetic Retreat Hidden in the Ancient City

| A Poetic Retreat Hidden in the Ancient City During the Spring Festival holiday, my family and I embarked on a spontaneous trip to Chaozhou. We chose to stay at the Chaozhou Youxiong Hotel, which gave me a completely different perspective on this historic city. From the moment I stepped into the hotel, it felt like traveling back in time. The hotel is nestled deep in the alleys of Chaozhou's ancient city, surrounded by winding historic streets. The building preserves the traditional Chaozhou residential style with gray tiles, white walls, and upturned swallow-tail ridges, blending perfectly with the surrounding environment. During check-in, the staff were warm and attentive, quickly arranging our room and thoughtfully introducing us to the hotel facilities and nearby attractions. The hotel has only 20 rooms, but each one is uniquely designed with character. Our booked room came with a small courtyard. Opening the door, the greenery and rustic stone table and chairs in the courtyard instantly helped us relax. The room featured a light luxury style with wooden furniture paired with soft bedding, both comfortable and stylish. The bathroom was equipped with a Dyson hair dryer and Bvlgari toiletries, showing quality in every detail. The hotel's public areas are equally impressive. In the courtyard stands a Sterculia tree over 200 years old. Though not in bloom during Spring Festival, its lush branches and leaves added tranquility to the space. Chairs and tables are placed under the tree, perfect for enjoying Kung Fu tea in the afternoon while basking in the sunlight filtering through the leaves—utterly delightful. Especially in the evening, when the ancient city is bathed in the glow of sunset, it's beautiful like a painting. The hotel is adjacent to Paifang Street, just a few minutes' walk away to begin a food tour. Various Chaozhou specialties are available—rice noodle rolls, rice paste soup, beef balls... eating our way through left us feeling completely satisfied. The hotel is also close to Kaiyuan Temple and Guangji Bridge, making travel very convenient. Worth mentioning is that the hotel is near the former residence of national studies master Rao Zongyi. Although we couldn't book a visit, just walking around and absorbing the cultural atmosphere was wonderful. During our days at Chaozhou Youxiong Hotel, we not only enjoyed comfortable accommodations but also deeply experienced Chaozhou's history, culture, and lifestyle. This place is like a hidden paradise in the ancient city, offering a peaceful haven during a bustling holiday. If I visit Chaozhou again, I will definitely choose to stay here.
