Hengjing Old Street, Shajiabang, Changshu, Jiangsu

Hengjing is a little-known old street hidden deep in the reeds of Shajiabang, Changshu, Jiangsu. The endless reeds are a symbol of Shajiabang, and the flying reed flowers surround the small Hengjing Ancient Town, isolating it from the hustle and bustle of the world. 　　As you stroll along Hengjing Old Street, you'll see old wooden pillars supporting the street corridor, with strings of red lanterns hanging underneath. The street, alleys, docks, river piers, and corridors are lined with shops with various signs: blacksmith shops, antique shops, printing shops, chicken shops, Diao Family Restaurant, teahouses, and more. Walking on the smooth bluestone road, you may feel like you've traveled back to the 1930s and 1940s. Hengjing Old Street is the ancient town style display area of Shajiabang, preserving the old appearance of rural buildings and attracting many TV dramas to shoot here. Visitors can visit the Jiangnan Agricultural Museum, experience farm life, and climb the Diao Family Courtyard to overlook the panoramic view of the old street. The Chunlai Teahouse on the old street is the prototype of A Qing's wife in the Peking Opera "Shajiabang". Visitors can enjoy tea and opera here and feel the strong cultural atmosphere. The architectural style of the old street is mainly traditional buildings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, with an ancient charm and well-preserved. The shops on both sides of the street are diverse, including teahouses, cloth shops, tailor shops, grocery stores, and food shops, showing the prosperous commercial scene at that time. Hengjing Old Street is built along the river, running east to west, with a total length of about 560 meters, dozens of households, a long street, and several small alleys. The shops on both sides of the street are lined up, with a wide water surface in front and lotus ponds and streams behind, creating a rural scene.
