Xiang Museum offers more than just Mawangdui; you can also see these special exhibitions during the summer vacation

I've been to Changsha three times in half a year, each time for a special exhibition, which shows how much I love Changsha haha... Besides Mawangdui, the Xiang Museum currently has several special exhibitions covering the entire summer vacation, worth spending a whole day to slowly enjoy. 🌟 Eye Contact — Huxiang Culture and Ye Jintian The Xiang Museum collaborates with Oscar-winning Ye Jintian to present over 160 cultural relics carrying Huxiang civilization, along with more than 120 movie costumes and art installations from films like "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and "The Investiture of the Gods," creating a "big movie scene" exhibition. Some relics are particularly fascinating, such as the "Figure Riding Dragon Silk Painting," "Yellow Silk Lantingji Xu," and the Tang Dynasty "Duyou" seven-string zither, which are prohibited from leaving the country. Exhibition period: June 12, 2025 – May 19, 2026 Admission: Free 🌟 Elegant Chu Style — Calligraphy and Paintings by Ming and Qing Hunan Scholars and Officials You can see handwritten calligraphy and paintings by Xiang Army generals such as Zeng Guofan, Zuo Zongtang, and Peng Yulin, including Zuo Zongtang’s provincial exam papers. Exhibition period: December 17, 2024 – November 16, 2025 Admission: Free 🌟 Xiangxiang Stone Charm — Exhibition of Stone Carvings from the Hunan Museum Collection The Xiang Museum’s stone carvings mainly feature chrysanthemum stones, which are rare and quite special in other places. Exhibition period: May 30, 2025 – May 30, 2026 Admission: Free 🏨 The exhibition enthusiast stayed at Changsha Grand Hyatt on Pozi Street, where you can overlook the beautiful Xiang River from the room and conveniently find food at Wuyi Square. The lobby also houses the only cultural and creative shop outside the Xiang Museum, marking the first time Xiang Museum’s cultural products have “moved into” a hotel. Raccoon plush toys, patterned bronze mirrors, and the Minfang Lei pieces featured on National Treasure... I think these look even better than what I saw at the museum, haha. Later I realized that all the products here are carefully selected by Grand Hyatt, and their taste is quite good, which explains why I didn’t spend money at the museum but did at the Grand Hyatt.
